Macclesfield lies in the North-West of England, in the industrial county of Cheshire. Cheshire was originally a Norman county, and it remained relatively constant until the Industrial Revolution, when the county rapidly industrialised. Huge coal-mines and iron-works were erected, and a canal and train infrastructure implemented. After the decline of the Industrial Revolution, the county generally de-industrialised with the major industries being manufacturing and high-technology (the company ICI has it's headquarters in Cheshire).
House prices in Cheshire as a whole are slightly lower than the national average of £161,300 as of July 2005 at £158,600 (according to Hometrack)

If you want your mortgage repayments to reflect market conditions, then it might be that a tracker mortgage may be right for you.
A tracker mortgage is a mortgage deal whereby the amount of money you have to pay back per month varies according to the Bank of England's base interest rate.
Therefore if you are working to a tight budget and need to know how much money is coming from your account each month then this will not be the product likely to suit you.
The biggest advantage of a tracker mortgage is that your monthly payments will decrease as the base interest rate decreases. If you don't need to budget, knowing how much your repayments will be; you might be able to save money on your repayments.
Tracker mortgages are suitable for those who want to make savings on their mortgage repayments whilst interest rates are low, but will be happy to pay more each month if the interest rate rises.
We understand how time consuming it can be to find a tracker mortgage and therefore remove this burden from you, searching the mortgage marketplace on your behalf.

'Short-term' trackers usually run for only a few years before converting to a variable-rate scheme.
Many lenders also offer a 'long-term' tracker option where the scheme can run until the entire loan amount has been repaid.
